Lead Safety Tips

  • Wash your hands before you eat to keep lead from getting into your body.

  • Leave your shoes at the door to keep lead dust from getting into your home.

  • Eat foods rich in calcium, zinc, and iron to help fight the effects of lead.

  • Eat foods that are low in fat to help prevent your body from absorbing lead.

  • Use a damp, soapy, disposable cloth to clean up paint dust and paint flakes.

  • Eat regularly, because empty stomachs absorb lead more easily.

  • Play in grassy areas, not in bare soil.

  • Use cold water for drinking and cooking, because warm water is more likely to contain lead.
