Lead
Tracker:
The Game

Lead
Tracker: The Quest for Lead Safety is an interactive computer-based game
that teaches Native American students about the dangers of lead poisoning
and about ways that they can protect themselves. It has been designed for 6th
graders to use either at home or in the classroom.
Students can choose to play as one of four contemporary
Native American characters—a teacher and three students. There are two
levels of play: the first level takes place outdoors, the second, indoors.
Players move around an interactive, 3-D board, landing on squares that give
lead-safety information and ask lead-safety questions. They may also land on
squares that take them to special minigames. Players get points if they
answer the questions correctly. The winner is the first player to reach 50
points. The minigames are more for fun, but if they are completed
successfully, the player gains additional points.

Level
I

If you're the only player, click the character you
would like to play. If there are two or more players, each person should
choose a character by clicking on the character. Once all the players have
chosen characters, cl ick START to begin.
To begin play, click the die. The die will spin and
give you a number between one and six. Your character will automatically
move that number of spaces on the board.
If you land on a HUNTING or a GATHERING square, you'll
be given information about lead safety. Try to remember the information,
because it will help you to answer the game questions. Landing on a HUNTING
or a GATHERING square will also earn you 1 point.
If you land on a blank square, you'll be asked a
question about lead safety. If you answer the question correctly, you'll get
10 points. If you answer the question incorrectly, you won't get any points.
After you've answered the question, click anywhere within the game borders
on the screen to continue.
The objective of level I is to reach 50 points. Once
you reach 50 points, you become a Lead Tracker!
Play continues until all players have reached Lead
Tracker status. Then level II begins.
Click QUIT at any time to end the game.
Level II

At the beginning of level II, you have already earned a
bar representing full health. The bar has six sections. The challenge is to keep your health bar full by answering additional lead questions.
Level II is an elimination round. The last player is the winner.
To being play, click the die, which will give you a number between one and six. Your character will automatically move that number of spaces on the board.
If you land on a HUNTING or a GATHERING square, you'll be given information about lead safety. Try to remember the information, because it will help you to answer the game questions.
If you land on a blank square, you'll be asked a question about lead safety. If you answer the question correctly, nothing happens. If you answer the question incorrectly, your health bar will go down one notch. After you've answered the question, the next player will proceed.
If your health bar disappears, you’re eliminated from the game. If you're the last player to remain after everyone else is eliminated, you are the winner!
Click QUIT at any time to end the game.
